What’s up CSSCers!
My name is Grant Buster and as of recently, I’m the new president of this fine organization. The staffers and I are starting the semester with a bang and we’ve got a bunch of awesome events for y’all.
First and foremost, BIG MEETING is back! On Tuesday (1/24) from 8 to 10 PM in 2050 VLSB, we will be providing entertainment and prizes with a side of information. This is one meeting you really don’t want to miss. We will be giving away TWO SNOWBOARDS (courtesy of D1440 and Mike Whitman), as well as a Rayne longboard deck, Burton snowboarding boots and much much more. Information about our after party will be given out at the meeting.

In case you haven’t heard, snow is on the forecast in Tahoe, which means it’s cabin trip season! Join us on the weekend of the 28th for our first cabin trip of the season. You can sign up for cabin trips at our table on Sproul (M-Th 11-2), or at Big Meeting. It’s 20 dollars a night for lodging as well as beverages. More information about future trips to come!

A true betch has been skiing since she came out of the womb, ever since her parents had her on an actual leash on the slopes. Obvi, you can bet that like everything else, she’s amazing at it. Betches love skiing because even though it’s a sport, it’s actually just a synonym for vaca.

BIG TRIP to Big Sky, Montana, promises to be epic (Google “Big Sky” and you’ll see why), but we know that the $599 price makes some of you hesitant to sign-up for it. That’s why we’re having a party this Friday, October 14th, where you can compete to win a discounted Big Trip! Come by Ski Haus at 9 PM to meet the Club, have some beers, and learn why you should come on the best trip we offer. This party will be MEMBERS ONLY (bring your cards). The Ski Haus is located at 2700 Dana Street, at the corner of Dana and Derby.

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen of the CSSC. Welcome back to school and, if you’re a new student, welcome to Cal! Berkeley has so much to offer, and I hope you make the most of your time here. Remember, we’re here for a GOOD time, not a long time . . .
The mission of the College Ski and Snowboard Club is to give Cal students a cheap, fun way to ski and snowboard. We are a social group of kids that loves to ski hard and play hard, and we have a lot of great benefits to offer our members this year. Membership in the CSSC costs $30 and gets you a sweet T-shirt, discounts at ski stores in Tahoe and the Bay, free entry to parties, and access to our season pass and ski trips. Here’s a short summary of what we have in store this year:
BIG TRIP, held January 7-14, 2012, will be in (appropriately enough) BIG SKY, MONTANA. This trip is the crown jewel of all of our adventures, and this resort offers some seriously epic skiing conditions: 3,812 acres, 8 square miles of runs, and 4,350 vertical feet to explore. The trip costs $599 and includes 5 nights of lodging, 4 lift tickets, 1 roundtrip party bus ride, and as much après ski fun as you can handle. You must be a member of the CSSC to come on Big Trip, but if you sign-up before October 5th, membership is free!
Throughout the spring semester, we make frequent weekend trips to Lake Tahoe. This year, our TRIPLE THREAT SEASON PASS gives you access to three of the best mountains in the area: Alpine Meadows, Homewood, and Kirkwood. There are standard blackout dates at Alpine and Homewood (the week after Christmas and MLK and Presidents’ Day weekends) and none at Kirkwood. All of this for only $255! You can’t find a better value anywhere else in Tahoe. This special season pass is for members only.
The once-a-semester BIG MEETING will be Thursday, September 15th, at 8 PM in 2050 VLSB.
